As Sierra Leone marked its Independence Day celebrations, DIB Ladies & GenZ for Change, a powerful network of women leaders and grassroots mobilizers, formally endorsed Dr. Ibrahim Bangura to become the All People’s Congress (APC) party’s next flagbearer.
The endorsement was declared at a packed gathering in Freetown, where hundreds of members and youth leaders joined the group in celebrating the nation’s independence. DIB Ladies & GenZ for Change said their decision followed wide consultations across the Western Area and provinces, citing Dr. Bangura’s record in education, youth empowerment, maternal health, and transparent leadership.
“Dr. Bangura is the unifier the APC needs to win,” said Chairlady of DIB Ladies for Change. “He has the competence, character, and connection to the grassroots. As women, we believe he will carry the hopes of ordinary Sierra Leoneans. The convention must choose him.”
Accepting the endorsement, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura thanked the group and pledged to run an inclusive campaign focused on party unity and national renewal.
“Speaking to this medium on a telephone interview Dr. Ibrahim Bangura said, I am humbled by the confidence DIB Ladies & GenZ for Change have shown in me, especially as we celebrate the birth of our nation,” Dr. Bangura said. “Our party’s strength is its people. As flagbearer, I will work with every wing of the APC to present a united, credible, and winning team. When our women rise, the APC rises — and when the APC rises, Sierra Leone wins.”
DIB Ladies & GenZ for Change announced they will immediately begin mobilizing delegates, hosting town halls, and leading voter education drives to ensure Dr. Bangura secures victory at the upcoming APC National Delegates Convention.
Dr. Bangura is widely respected for his work in the APC party, achievement academia, public service, community development and community development.
