Residents of the Lumley community have expressed profound gratitude towards the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police for appointing CSP Dr. Ahmed K. Kabba as the Local Unit Commander of the Lumley Police Division. The community’s sentiments are not only rooted in appreciation, but also confidence in CSP Dr. Kabba’s effective leadership, particularly in maintaining security and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic within his division.

Mr. Jalloh, a resident of Babadorie, shared with the Drone Newspaper that the recent operations conducted by the Lumley Police Division exemplify the crucial role of law enforcement in promoting safety and security during public celebrations. He highlighted the effectiveness of community policing under CSP Dr. Kabba’s leadership, noting how timely responses to emergencies and proactive engagement have strengthened public safety in the Western Region. Mrs. Bawoh, another resident from Lumley, Regent Road, emphasized that CSP Dr. Kabba’s efforts reaffirm the police’s dedication to tackling crime and fostering a collaborative environment between law enforcement and the community to ensure a safe living space for all.

Furthermore, Victor Johnson urged the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police to provide more support to CSP Dr. Kabba. He emphasized the importance of allowing him to continue his impactful work in the Lumley community without reassignment to another division, as the success stories of CSP Dr. Kabba have flourished within a short time.

A pivotal moment occurred on July 24, 2025, when a distress call alerted CSP Dr. Kabba to an armed robbery within Lumley jurisdiction around 3 AM. Responding swiftly, CSP Kabba, accompanied by Inspector Osman Kargbo and members of the Rapid Response Team (RRT), reached the scene without delay. Upon their arrival, they found indications of a violent altercation, including four discharged gun shells collected during their investigation.

The victims of the attack, Madam Finah Kamara and her husband, were treated for injuries they sustained, underscoring the significant challenges law enforcement faces in even well-established communities. The local chief, Mr. Paul Buckarie, provided critical intelligence to the police, highlighting the vital importance of community collaboration in combating crime.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances of the incident, residents conveyed a strong willingness to assist police efforts in enhancing security in the area. This cooperative spirit can largely be credited to the successful community policing strategies implemented by the Lumley Division, which have been instrumental in building trust and confidence among the residents.

A positive turn of events occurred on July 25, 2025, when the Lumley Division’s operational team acted on intelligence related to the previous armed robbery. Their diligent efforts led to the arrest of a suspect identified as Amara Kamara, a resident of Timba Land, Kondie Farm, Lumley. Following his apprehension, Kamara was transferred to the Anti-Robbery Unit for further investigation, demonstrating the police’s effectiveness in taking decisive action against crime.

Currently, the Lumley Division remains largely secure, with the Operations Team steadfastly continuing their essential work to ensure security coverage throughout the municipality. Their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, especially after challenging incidents, provides residents with a sense of safety and reassurance in their communities.

In a touching demonstration of appreciation, the youths of New Life City composed a special song honoring CSP Dr. Ahmed K. Kabba for his exemplary service and adept management of traffic in Lumley. This acknowledgment reflects the admiration and respect CSP Dr. Kabba has garnered from the community, due to his relentless dedication to public safety.

Earlier in the year, on April 21, 2025, CSP Dr. Ahmed K. Kabba skillfully coordinated a security operation at Lumley Beach to ensure the safety of thousands of people celebrating Easter Sunday and Monday. Known for its vibrant atmosphere during holidays, Lumley Beach was closely monitored by personnel from both the Operational Support Division (OSD) and General Duty (GD), showcasing another successful initiative by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in maintaining peace and order.

As one of the most significant holidays on the Christian calendar, Easter attracts numerous attendees to Lumley Beach, transforming the area into a lively hub of festivities. Acknowledging the potential security risks associated with large crowds, CSP Dr. Kabba mobilized a professional task force designed to safeguard lives and maintain decorum throughout the celebration. This proactive measure exemplifies the police force’s commitment to their primary duty—ensuring the security of citizens within their jurisdiction.

The operational strategy was spearheaded by ASP Josie Williams, who organized intermittent patrols across the beach area. These patrols were focused on deterring criminal activities, particularly phone snatchings—a common concern during crowded events. Officers maintained a visible presence to reassure the public and address issues promptly.
