Under the dynamic leadership of Mr. James Baggie Bio, Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), the Authority has officially commissioned a brand-new office complex and a state-of-the-art vehicle impounding facility at Mile 6 in Freetown.
The newly constructed facilities are designed to significantly strengthen the operational capacity of the SLRSA. They are fully equipped to manage administrative affairs and to securely handle vehicles, motorcycles, and tricycles that are found to be in violation of road traffic laws. This development marks a major step toward stricter enforcement and improved compliance with road safety regulations across the country.
Speaking at the unveiling, officials of the Authority described the project as part of a broader reform agenda aimed at modernizing road safety management in Sierra Leone. The Mile 6 impounding yard will serve as a central hub for the custody of seized vehicles, ensuring transparency, accountability, and professionalism in enforcement procedures.
Mr. James Baggie Bio’s leadership has been widely praised for its focus on infrastructure development, institutional discipline, and public safety. His vision continues to translate into practical results that enhance the efficiency of the Authority and the safety of road users nationwide.
With these new facilities now operational, the SLRSA is better positioned to reduce traffic violations, improve road user behavior, and ultimately save lives. Observers say the initiative reflects the government’s broader commitment to building strong institutions and promoting a culture of responsibility on Sierra Leone’s roads.
Indeed, under visionary leadership, Sierra Leone’s road safety landscape is steadily moving forward.
