In a landmark gesture of community support and patriotism, Sheik Alhaji Mohamed “Omodu” Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, a stalwart in the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Party, pledged a generous sum of $100,000 to fund various development initiatives across Tonko-Limba Chiefdom in Kambia District.
The announcement was made during a vibrant and widely attended community ceremony held at the C.A. Kamara-Taylor Memorial Hall, where Jagaban was given a grand traditional welcome. Cultural performances and ceremonies marked his arrival, reflecting the deep appreciation and respect of the people.
The multi-phase development package includes the construction of an ultra-modern multi-purpose hall, the transformation of over 30 acres of land into a hub of productivity featuring a bakery, recreational facilities, agricultural projects, and other community-enhancing infrastructure.
Paramount Chief Alimamy Korgba IV heaped praise on Jagaban, describing him as a “son of the soil” whose vision aligns with the aspirations of the Chiefdom. “This is not just a donation—it is a legacy in the making,” the Chief said.
Hon. Ernest Dura, the Member of Parliament who facilitated Jagaban’s visit, expressed deep gratitude. “I am overwhelmed. This kind of patriotic commitment is what our people need. Mr. Kamara has raised the bar.”
Adding his voice, Mr. Brima Michael Turay, an APC stalwart and former Director of Communication at the Ministry of Education, welcomed the investment. Despite supporting another aspirant for the APC flagbearer position, Turay said: “I stand for development. I wholeheartedly commend Jagaban, and I call on any other aspiring leader to emulate this selfless act.”
The event drew thousands of enthusiastic APC supporters, many of whom praised Jagaban for his long-standing commitment to grassroots development. Traditional dances and songs echoed throughout the Chiefdom as residents celebrated what they called a “new dawn of progress.”
Jagaban’s contribution is widely seen as a significant boost to the socio-economic transformation of Tonko-Limba Chiefdom and a strong statement of unity, development, and leadership in action.
