APC Supporters Feel Betrayed By Samura Kamara
Following the resolutions in the just concluded dialogue between the main opposition party (APC), in which the party agreed to end boycott of governance, as well as request for the paying of emoluments to all elected members, with little information about their stolen votes, many APC supporters expressed disappointment in the team that was involved in the dialogue, led by their Presidential Candidate for the 2023 election, Dr Samura Kamara.
They maintained that Dr. Samura Kamara, prior to the dialogue informed them that their concerns, with regards to their stolen votes will be seriously put across in the dialogue with the view to address the situation. He had stressed that the release of the disaggregated election results by polling station will be the priority topic of discussion in the dialogue. Unfortunately, at the end of the dialogue, no mention was made with respect to the said concerns of the masses. This apparent disregard of the concerns of voters by the APC team, has been seen as a betrayal, especially as the party’s negotiators advocated for emoluments of the elected members. This they saw as selfish interest.
Many maintained that what this means is that the death of their compatriots and members of the party was in vain, as no mention was made as to matters of redress or justice for them. They believe that nothing was achieved by the APC in the said dialogue, and the boycott that they have decided to lift, should not have been done in the first place, since the main reason for staging the boycott was to ensure that stolen votes are accounted for.
