Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s Vision for Education and National Renewal
By ABSAS
A nation’s future depends not only on what its children learn, but on the values they uphold, the opportunities they receive and the responsibilities they embrace. Education must therefore cultivate knowledge, character, tolerance and responsible citizenship.
This is the significance of the DIB Movement’s National School Essay Competition 2026, inspired by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s vision and themed LOVE OVER HATE: The Gateway to National Development. By inviting primary and secondary school students across Sierra Leone to confront tribalism, political intolerance and discrimination, the initiative empowers young people to become contributors to national renewal.
Yet its true success will extend beyond the classroom. Families, schools, communities and public institutions must translate its message into everyday conduct, equal opportunity and mutual respect. Education plants the seeds of progress; collective responsibility enables them to flourish.
This reflects Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s vision: HEAL, UNITE, BUILD SIERRA LEONE. Building bridges, not walls, and choosing love over hate affirm that disagreement need not breed hostility, political competition must not destroy national solidarity, and diversity must never justify exclusion.
For the APC and Sierra Leone, this vision underscores a higher standard of leadership: empowering citizens, uniting communities and creating opportunities for future generations. Leadership’s enduring value lies not merely in the pursuit of office, but in the progress it delivers and the future it secures.
Ultimately, this competition is an investment in the minds, values and civic responsibility of Sierra Leone’s future citizens. Its message transcends political affiliation because peace, education and national development are shared responsibilities.
Educate minds. Empower people. Build bridges, not walls. Choose love over hate.
HEAL, UNITE, BUILD SIERRA LEONE.
