In the early hours of Tuesday 13th February, 2024, at around 12 midday fire hit the 25 Rawdon street office complex, leaving behind a trail of destruction, worth billions of Leones.
According to sources, the inferno was as a result of bad current, triggering sparks that quickly spread through the entire building, engulfing homes and business in its path.
The inferno, fueled by office combustible materials, spread rapidly through the densely populated area, overwhelming firefighting efforts. Despite the valiant efforts of emergency response by the youths and office staffs, the ferocity of the flame proved difficult to contain, resulting in widespread devastation.
As the smoke cleared, the true extent of the disaster emerged. Countless families were left with nothing but the clothes on their bodies, office materials and other valuable were reduced to ashes.
The loss of livelihood and cherished possessions added to the already profound tragedy.
In the aftermath of this catastrophe, Ahmad H. Hashim, commonly known as VIP, and Mr Ibrahim Hussain Antar, the Pakistan Consul, were quick to call the fire brigade to the scene, and showed empathy to the victims.
Community people are calling on the National Disaster Management Agency, Insurance Companies, Non-government Organization and others to come to their aid.
