With profound appreciation, Paramount Chief Haja Mariama Gassama Kanja IV acknowledges the revocation of her suspension and her reinstatement to serve the people of Gorama Mende Chiefdom. This decision comes following a directive from the Office of the President dated 17th June 2025, which officially calls for her immediate reinstatement.
In the letter received, it is requested that all necessary actions be taken to facilitate the revocation of the suspension and ensure a peaceful and orderly transition. The directive outlines the following key actions:
- Adherence to the principles of good governance by maintaining the proper governance structure as stipulated in the Chieftaincy Act of 2009. This includes ensuring a functional and effective Chiefdom Committee.
- Strict compliance with Section 29(1) of the Chieftaincy Act, particularly Section 29(1c), which emphasizes the preservation, promotion, and safeguarding of the customs and traditions of the Chiefdom.
- Collaboration with the provincial team to review the Chiefdom Councilors list and fill all vacant positions within the Chiefdom within six months.
- Exercising guidance and leadership to promote peace and development throughout Gorama Mende Chiefdom.
The provincial team will continue to monitor this process and support peaceful coexistence within the Chiefdom.
In a heartfelt statement, Paramount Chief Mariama Gassama Kanja IV expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation for the trust and confidence restored in her leadership. She thanked:

- And all others who tirelessly advocated and stood by her during the challenging period.
As she resumes her role, Paramount Chief Gassama Kanja IV calls upon the youths and the entire population of the Chiefdom to uphold peace, unity, and mutual respect.
She reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to just, inclusive, and peaceful leadership, and pledged to steer the Chiefdom toward a future marked by development, harmony, and cultural pride.
