Gov’t Security Sector Strengthens Security Measures to Ensure the Safety of ECOWAS Delegates

The National Security Coordinator (NSCORD), in close collaboration with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the Inspector General of Police (IG), has put all necessary security measures in place to ensure that all ECOWAS delegates and visitors in Sierra Leone are safe, secure, and able to carry out their official activities without any disruption.

Comprehensive security deployments have been established across key locations, including conference venues, hotels, airports, and major transportation routes. Security personnel are working around the clock to maintain law and order, protect lives and property, and provide a peaceful environment for all participants throughout their stay in the country.
President Julius Maada Bio, who is currently leading the nation, continues to provide strong leadership and guidance to the country’s security sector. Under his leadership, all relevant authorities are working closely together to ensure that Sierra Leone remains peaceful, stable, and welcoming to all ECOWAS delegates and international visitors.

The coordinated efforts of the Office of National Security, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, the Sierra Leone Police, and other security agencies demonstrate the Government’s commitment to maintaining national security and upholding Sierra Leone’s reputation as a peaceful destination for regional and international engagements.
The public is encouraged to continue cooperating with the security agencies by remaining vigilant, respecting the law, and reporting any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. Together, these collective efforts will contribute to the successful hosting of ECOWAS activities and reinforce Sierra Leone’s commitment to regional peace, security, and cooperation.
