Dr. Ibrahim Bangura Calls For Calm In JFK – CJ Matter

A Statement from Dr Ibrahim Bangura

My fellow Sierra Leoneans,

In the interest of justice and national cohesion, I join the calls for restraint, understanding, and leniency regarding the ongoing matter between the Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda and former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Comrade Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara.

At a time when our nation needs healing more than ever, we must choose Love Over Hate.

The constitutional issues before the Supreme Court deserve our utmost attention, and I urge all parties to engage the debate with the solemnity it requires. It is important that the focus remains on the critical legal questions before the Court for the greater good of Sierra Leone.

This is not a moment for division. It is a moment for mature Unity.

Sierra Leone is bigger than any one individual, bigger than any one institution, and bigger than any one political moment. Our democracy has been tested before, and each time, we have shown the world that we can disagree without being disagreeable, we can debate without destroying, and we can seek justice without seeking vengeance.

I stand for a Sierra Leone that heals. A Sierra Leone where the law is respected, but where compassion is never absent. Where justice is pursued, but where national cohesion is protected. Where we can allow our institutions, especially the Supreme Court, to do its work with dignity, free from hate, free from pressure, and free from trial by public sentiment.

To Heal, we must restrain our tongues and our actions. Let us avoid inflammatory words that wound our national spirit.

To Unite, we must seek understanding. Let us remember that both the Honourable Chief Justice and the former Attorney General are sons of this land who have served Sierra Leone with distinction. Their service deserves our respect even as the law takes its course.

To Build, we must embrace leniency and wisdom. Let us focus on the critical legal questions, not on personalities. Let the Constitution be our guide and the greater good of Sierra Leone be our compass.

My appeal today is to all: supporters, stakeholders, young people, elders, and all who love this country. Let us choose dialogue over discord, let us choose peace over provocation, and let us choose love over hate.

We cannot build the Sierra Leone we dream of on a foundation of hate. We build it with justice, with mercy, with unity, and with love for one another.

Let us allow the Supreme Court to speak. Let us trust in our institutions. And let us, together, heal our wounds, unite our people, and build our nation.

May God bless Sierra Leone.
