PUPILS OF SIERRA LEONE ISLAMIC FEDERATION SECONDARY SCHOOL CALL FOR HELP

The two lists below are names of people proposed to serve as Board Members of the Sierra Leone Islamic Federation.

One of the two lists described as fake, was allegedly manufactured unprocedurally by three people, while the other was done with huge consideration to principles regulating education in the country.

Earlier, one of the lists described as legitimate, was prepared apparently with the full consent and professional advice of the sitting Deputy Director of Education in the district, Mohamed Kamara, who serves as official representative of the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (BBSSE) and, by extension, the government at district level. During the process of constituting new board members for the Sierra Leone Islamic Federation, nomination of members and other lawful procedures were followed to a logical conclusion.

The list (original) was tendered to the sitting Deputy Director of Education, Mohamed Kamara, who submitted the same to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education on behalf of the pupils and teachers of the school.

One year has gone since the progress of the Sierra Leone Islamic Federation (SLIF) was stalled. After allegedly collecting bribes from an individual, whose interest is to remain as board chairperson for life, the Deputy Director of Education, in collusion with the former Deputy Director of Education, Alimamy Kamara, and the current Provincial Secretary East, Ishaga Turay, who has served the school board for over one decade.

Sadly, the original list submitted earlier by the current Deputy Director of Education in the district was allegedly withdrawn and replaced with the fake list, after the full approval and consent of DD Mohamed.

Lately, another list carrying names of selected people proposed to serve as board members was allegedly concocted with naked disrespect of the laws regulating education in the country. All efforts to get the sides of Ishaga Turay and DD Mohamed Kamara met with stiff resistance. Ishaga declined to talk through the means I used to reach out to him and further requested that I meet him at the Provincial Secretary’s office in Kenema for his side of an occurrence in Kambia.

The second list, described by many as fake, was allegedly concocted by the names and titles below:

  1. Alimamy Kamara, former Deputy Director of Education in Kambia. Alimamy Kamara, by procedure, has had no mandate in Kambia since he was shifted and replaced.
  2. Ishaga Turay, Provincial Secretary East, whose vested interest is to continue to serve as chairman, despite the expiration of his mandate long ago.
  3. And Mohamed Kamara, the sitting Deputy Director of Education in Kambia.

The emergence of the second list was after DD Mohamed Kamara had submitted the original list of nominees. The nomination of members was done with huge consideration of the law.

Attached above are the fake and legitimate lists for ease of reference.
