In a show of cultural respect and political symbolism, Honourable Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, popularly known as Chericoco, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, formally declared his intention to contest for the flagbearer position of the All People’s Congress (APC) before the Fula Tribal leadership in Freetown.

The declaration took place during a ceremonial visit to the Fula Tribal Administration office, where Hon. Bah was received by Chief Alhaji Almamy Mohamed Sarjoh Jalloh, the Fula Tribal Head for the Western Area, and Chairman of the Council of Fula Tribal Heads in Sierra Leone.

Addressing the traditional leadership, Hon. Bah paid homage to the Fula community, highlighting the critical role tribal and cultural institutions play in shaping Sierra Leone’s political landscape.

He emphasized the value of unity, respect, and inclusion as cornerstones of his political vision.

“I am here not only as a politician, but as a son of the soil, who recognizes the authority and wisdom of our traditional leaders,” Chericoco said. “Your prayers and blessings are vital as I step forward in this national journey.”

Chief Jalloh, in response, commended Bah for his humility and respect for tradition, assuring him of the community’s prayers for peace and a democratic process rooted in mutual respect.

The visit is widely seen as a strategic move that blends political ambition with cultural diplomacy, reflecting the growing importance of community endorsement ahead of the APC’s leadership race.

As the contest for the APC flagbearership intensifies, Chericoco’s engagement with traditional authorities underscores his campaign’s focus on grassroots connection and inclusive leadership.
