Ibrahim Sesay Becomes New President

Members of the Moeba Community Progressive Ataya Base Organization, located in the Eastern part of Freetown, on Sunday 4 February 2024, elected Mr. Ibrahim Sesay as their new President. He will serve the organization for a period of two years. He polled 52 votes out of 100 people, who had successfully Registered and are legible to vote, while his main contender, Mr. Ibrahim Musa kamara, secured 25 votes.

The organization’s constitution stipulates that members should elect a new Chairman and Executive after every two years, but only registered and paid up members are allowed to vote during the election process.

Whilst addressing the gathering, the President Elect and Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Obai O.S kamara, called on the Sierra Leone police to beef-up security within the organization’s premises to raise confidence among its members.

The President Elect, Ibrahim Sesay, stated that he will run the organization’s activities effectively, as the new President, to enhance development.

He assured members of his commitment to channel more development for the organization, especially in improving on the business environment, and will work together with his contender.

Giving a brief background of the organization, some senior stakeholders disclosed to this medium that the organization was founded some months ago, and they are currently having over 100 members, intimating that they are targeting more than 500 members, adding that the organization is comprised of over five zones.

The election attracted over 130 Moeba Community Progressive Ataya Base Organization members, including other top personalities, and were commended for a peaceful election.

The newly elected President and the other two contenders expressed their commitment to work together to bring development and progress to the community
