Champion Coker Remanded Again
What happened in an open court yesterday Tuesday, is pathetic, when somebody who is supposed to be a victim now becomes the accused.
This happened in Court No.2 in front of the galary when the accused, Champion Coker, suffered injustice at Magistrate Court.
Champion Coker, a businessman, on Tuesday March 12 2024, was remanded in custody by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.2 Pademba Road for contempt.
When the matter was mentioned, the accused, Champion Coker, took his four children to the dock and said the children had nowhere to sleep, as the Court has sold his property unlawfully, without his knowledge, even when his original land documents are with him.
Upon that behavior the State Counsel, Juan Bull, said the accused also abused her.
The Magistrate got annoyed and sent the accused on remand till the 19 March 2024.
The accused, Champion Coker, is before Magistrate Santigie Bangura on four counts of Conspiracy, Contrary to law, Trespass, Countrary to Section 15 (1) (b) of the Public Order Act of 1965, Malicious Damage, Contrary to Section 31 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861 and Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheet on count 1, the accused, Champion Coker, on Friday 17 November 2023, at Peninsula Road, Freetown, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime.
Count 2 states that the accused, Champion Coker, on the 17 November 2023, at No.11 Main Peninsula Road, Sussex, Freetown, unlawfully entered the dwelling house and compound of Yusuf Kamara, having being warned not to do so.The above charges, according to investigation, was falsely drafted in order to illegally and unlawfully take possession of the property of Champion Coker.
This entire matter, which has been twisted to favor crooks, who were alleged to have unlawfully taken possession of the house of Champion Coker, claiming to have bought it through a Court Order, is now a subject of public discussion, especially those who know the true story. Champion Coker, according to investigation, was out of the country, not knowing exactly who had secretly or clandestinely sold his house, even though his original documents were still in his possession, and on his return to Freetown, went to his house and discovered different locks on his premises, preventing him from entering the house. His children, who were in the house, were thrown out of the big house and are now residing at a make shift structure, which was initially built when the man started the construction of his house. It appears Magistrate Santigie Bangura is cleverly taking sides on this matter, and has, on two occasions, remanded Champion Coker at the Pademba Prison.
Count 3 states that the accused on the same date and place, maliciously damaged one of the locks of the doors at No.11 Main Peninsula Road, Sussex, Freetown, valued at six hundred Leones, property of Yusuf Kamara.
Count 4 states that the accused on the same date and place, vdid steal two tons of iron rods, valued at thirty-one thousand Leones, two hundred bags of cement, valued at thirty thousand Leones, twenty-five length of rods and other items valued at sixty-six nine hundred and ninety Leones, property of Yusuf Kamara.
The matter was adjourned to the 19 March 2024.
