Hon. Tunis said he was informed that a 2023 Note Verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had requested a visa on his behalf and for an individual identified as Chabatan Bah, described as his Executive Assistant.

However, he denied any knowledge of the individual, stating he has never met or worked with anyone by that name.
Hon. Tunis has called for an urgent investigation by the Foreign Affairs Ministry to establish who used his name in the alleged visa arrangement, amid claims that the individual was granted a visa, travelled to the United States, and did not return to Sierra Leone.
The United States Embassy in Freetown declined to comment on the specific case, citing policy on individual visa matters. The development comes as Tunis was listed among officials expected to travel to New York for the United Nations General Assembly. At the same time, authorities in Freetown had not issued any official response on the matter by press time.
