Desperate attempt to Grab Private Land at Waterloo Exposed
Recent developments surrounding the desperate attempt to illegally grab land of James Legg at Nyamba town by a team of land grabbers have been exposed. Their failure to appear in court because of lack of authentic documents resulted in a judgement in default of defense in favour of Mr Legg granted in March 2023 with a court order for costs and repossession. The court order has been partially executed as only Le 140,000 of the Le370,000 has been paid by two defendants and repossession fully executed in March 2024.

Investigation uncovered that among these desperate land grabbers are Abubakarr Kamara alias Abu SLPP, Abdul Rahman Olu Kamara (Headman Banga Farm), Mohamed Davies Koroma (former APC Deputy …….), Juma Kowa Kamara (Headman Nyangba Town) , Foday Kolleh Koroma, Hassan Koroma and Mohamed Kamara AKA Nellie whose nefarious land deals have been brought to the attention of the Lands Ministry, Anti-Corruption Commission and even the Sierra Leone Judiciary. It is believed that Abu SLPP who no longer holds any position within the SLPP has been covertly hiding behind the party’s name to do many illegal things. It is understood that the team of desperate land grabbers have been using fake and fabricated documents. The document in the names of Juma Kowa Kamara and Simeon George with an LS number 881/66 is claiming 1017 acres .

Within the same 1017 acres, Mohamed Davies Koroma produced to the police in November 2020 a document with different ownership for 151 acres with LS 999/77 during a dispute with Mr James Mathew Legg for the 8.63 acre property Mr Legg had bought from the late Hon Hassan Gbassay Kanu. During the police investigations that lasted for 15 months a second document was prepared by the grabbing team in the names of Mohamed Davies Koroma, Abdulrahman Olu Kamara and Abubakarr Kamara measuring 49.5454 acres with MLS 2340/2012 for the same Property Mr Legg had purchased from the late Hon Hassa Gbassay Kanu. Also within this 1017 acres is an 8.3 acre property bought by Mr Legg from Mr Moses Garber and Mr Prince Garber in 2010. In April 2021 the land grabbing syndicate brushed and claimed an estimated 6 acres of this property including a road within the property and prepared a document for 4.9788 acres with MLS 2344/2015 in the names of Abdul Rahman Olu Kamara, Foday Kamara and Abass Kamara.
During investigation, we also discovered that a man who works at the Sierra Leone Judiciary in the name of Mohamed Mansaray but uses different names is their midfielder in the land grabbing syndicate at the judiciary, and as well as a military officer in the name of Hassan Kamara AKA Aukotor who is the chairman of the land grabbing syndicate at Nyangba Town. An attempt made recently with fake documents used to bulldoze their way at the High court on the same land was recently exposed by the media. Concerns are that if these grabbers are allowed to use fake and backdated documents and always go scot-free, land issues will continue to be a challenge in the country. These fake documents should be seriously investigated as a way of promoting justice with regards to land grabbing. Moreover, some legal practitioners are in the habit of taking land matters to court without notifying the other party with the intention of obtaining an injunction. And the usual habit of the lang grabbers is to start disposing of the property as soon as the injunction is granted. Some solicitors even misinform their clients of an injunction thereby endangering the lives of the other party.
