One of the leading technology company, Zoodlabs-SL Limited, in its bid to improve internet connectivity in the country, has embarked on a two-day Sustainable Development project in different communities across Freetown, by distributing different building materials, pipe borne water supply material and cash to support the work in communities. This distribution started on Friday 22nd October at the Leicester/Gloucester community, and continued on the 23rd October 2023 at the Goderich community in Freetown.
Henry Haffner, ACEO & M and CBP lead, mentioned that at Zoodlabs-SL Limited, they are working with rules and regulation in building the nation, as well as with the community development action plan to ensure they give back to the society. He disclosed that as one institution with a site at the Leicester peak community, it is part of their Corporate responsibility to serve as a brighter example by helping communities where they operate, with their basic needs. In this respect, they are in the first community on their list and will continue to meet the others in the list. He disclosed that during a meeting with the communities last year, several needs were highlighted, and that they are in the community now to provide what they had promised during the said meeting.
He noted that among the needs of the community were [pipe borne water equipment and support of the work, thus, they have now provided pipe borne water supply materials and over a million Leone to support the workmanship, so as to ensure that the work is done on time.
Continuing their engagement, Zoodlabs officials went to the Tower Hill Community, where they again did the same presentation of the required equipment and cash for the workmanship. Similar engagement was made in the Aberdeen Community, but this time, they presented building materials to help the community renovate their Community Centre, such as paints, zinc, hardboard and cash.
At Goderich community, the final destination for the distribution process, the officials of Zoodlabs-SL provided cements, vanish, roofing nail, and cash to the elders of the community to help them on building a school for the community, as these were the agreed materials requested by the community. Mr Henry highlighted that it is an ongoing process and they will do more.
In the different communities where the donations were made, Stakeholders, Councilors, Chairladies, Youth Leaders and residents commended Zoodlabs for their concern and adherence to their corporate responsibilities to them, and expressed appreciation to the company for remembering them and helping in developing their communities.
