VP Encourages Sierra Leoneans to Embrace Lessons of Ramadan

Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has urged the citizens of Sierra Leone to carry forward the values of compassion, tolerance, and solidarity that were cultivated during the month of Ramadan. His message came on Friday during his participation in the Eid al-Fitr prayers at the National Stadium practice field in Freetown, a significant occasion marking the end of the month-long period of fasting, reflection, and devotion. As the Muslim community celebrated the culmination of Ramadan, Dr. Jalloh emphasized that the spirit of Ramadan should not be confined to just the holy month, but should remain an integral part of everyday life.

In his post-prayer remarks, Dr. Jalloh called for the spirit of unity and kindness that was exemplified during Ramadan to transcend into regular daily practices, urging citizens to build on the discipline, sacrifice, and self-restraint that Ramadan fosters. The Vice President emphasized that these qualities are essential for strengthening social cohesion and peaceful coexistence among Sierra Leoneans, stressing that the true impact of Ramadan lies not only in the observance of fasting, but in the lasting values of mutual respect and understanding it teaches.

Dr. Jalloh further noted that the lessons learned during Ramadan are vital for the overall development of the nation. He underlined that the essence of the holy month – marked by devotion, charity, and compassion – offers a profound lesson for Sierra Leone’s social and national development. By continuing to practice the values of empathy and cooperation, Sierra Leoneans can contribute to a stronger, more harmonious society that works together to overcome challenges and embrace diversity.

Additionally, the Vice President took the opportunity to commend the religious leaders of the country for their role in guiding the faithful throughout the month of Ramadan. He praised their efforts in ensuring that the observance was not only spiritually enriching but also peaceful, helping maintain harmony and respect within the community.

Dr. Jalloh concluded his remarks with a call for continued prayers for the peace and progress of the nation, encouraging Sierra Leoneans to remain united in their prayers for the stability and development of the country. He also expressed his support for the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio and the government, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to promoting the well-being of all citizens, safeguarding national stability, and advancing the collective prosperity of the people of Sierra Leone.
