One of Sierra Leone’s finest tribe, the Themne, for the first time, formed an association to further strengthen the gains that are so naturally endowed to this race. The historic event took place in London on Saturday, July 6, 2024
Whilst some believe the tribe came from the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, others believe it directly came from Guinea – from the parent Baga tribe. The Baga tribe has sub dialects like Baga Monchor, Baga Sitemu, Baga Themne, etc
Wherever this great tribe emanated from, it has established itself to be a lead tribe in Sierra Leone. Primarily found in the north, west, and south of Sierra Leone, it is said to be the most populous tribe in the country. Alongside its unconditional hospitality, the language is also sentimental and easy to speak. This admiration led to other language speakers associating themselves as Themnes
Over time, there has been a call to have an established association to coordinate the interest and progress of these people. We recognize the umbrella association of some other tribes, the Mende Tegloma, the Krio KDU, the Limba Ekutay and Malimba, and the Fula Fottal eh Pottal inter alia. The launch of Ta Da Themne added the Themne to the number of organized tribes with a formalized structure
Ta Da Themne benefits from a robust administrative structure and the support of the Themne Trustees, a body rooted in strong traditional Themne culture. With an effective and successful leadership, Ta Da Themne Trustees—including Ing A B Mans, Kholifa Koroma Esq, medic, Dr. Mohamed Sesay and Accountant, Alpha Sankoh, are well positioned to ensure the organisation remains honestly competitive with other notable associations mentioned above
An erudite lawyer, Chief Abu Bakarr Lugbu Black Kamara, the First in the Order of Bai Bureh Kabelai, from Kasse & Lokomasama, Port Loko District, was crowned Premiere Chief of Ta Da Themne. Congratulations, our chief!!!
