Sixty-nine security personnel of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) have commenced a two-week professional training programme at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA 1) Campus in Hastings.
The training is aimed at strengthening discipline, professional competence, operational readiness and security awareness, while enhancing the personnel’s capacity to safeguard port infrastructure, personnel and assets.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of Human Resources, Mr. Alhassan George, urged the trainees to take the programme seriously and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values, standards and professionalism expected of SLPHA personnel.
The programme, which marks the second batch of SLPHA security personnel to undergo professional training at SILEA, underscores Management’s continued commitment to human capital development and the strengthening of security operations at Sierra Leone’s ports.
The two-week training combines classroom instruction with practical exercises covering contemporary security operations, discipline, professional conduct and operational effectiveness.
The programme is primarily focused on building the capacity of SLPHA security personnel, strengthening port security and ensuring the effective protection of Sierra Leone’s ports, harbours, personnel and assets.
