SLCAA Boss Expresses Optimism Of Bigger Flight Arrivals

Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, Madam Musayeroh Barrie, has expressed her determination to work with key industry players to improve the country’s aviation sector.

Speaking at the weekly government press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Tuesday 24th October, 2023, she said that increasing competition and the number of flights coming into the country are among the priorities of her administration.

According to her, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Industry have come a long way, rating them above 70% in terms of safety and security, adding that the country should be appreciative of their efforts, as Sierra Leone is doing better compared to most countries elsewhere.

The Civil Aviation boss stated that such accomplishments speak volumes of their performance and that she now has her focus on attracting bigger carriers to the country. She promised to address the issue of competition, which, according to her, will impact the cost of travel to Sierra Leone. The Civil Aviation Authority, she went on, plays a regulatory role, working with key players such as operators and service providers.

Madam Barrie pledged to ensure compliance that matches best practice and also to increase oversight.
