In a landmark event on Saturday, February 17, 2024, the community of Peacock Farm, Wellington, witnessed the inaugural General Election of Youth Development For Peace (De House) at Deen Pool, Rokel. Established in 2009, De House has been a cornerstone in community development, engaging in activities such as drainage cleaning, drug sensitization, road maintenance, scholarships for school children, and more.

The election marked a significant milestone, as members cast their votes for various executive positions, including Chairman, Chair Lady, Secretary-General, Organizing Secretary, Financial Secretary, and two others. The newly elected Chairman, Samuel Tambawa, expressed gratitude to the members who entrusted him with their votes. He pledged to elevate the organization, bringing forth more development to the people of Peacock Farm, promising to fulfil his manifesto and meet the aspirations of the community.
Tambawa emphasized collaboration, stating that he would work closely with his losing contender and the entire executive team to propel the organization forward, emphasizing unity and familiar bonds within the community.
Outgoing Chairman Alpha Sesay, who had served for two years, thanked the organization’s members, both locally and in the diaspora, for their active participation in the election process. Sesay highlighted the organization’s 13-year history, noting that this was the first time an open and transparent general executive election had taken place. He expressed his satisfaction with having conducted a credible election and pledged ongoing support to the new chairman.
Members of the organization acknowledged the outgoing Chairman’s significant contributions and praised the transparent election process. They welcomed Chairman Samuel Tambawa, expressing readiness to collaborate and work as a united family to advance the goals of Youth Development For Peace (De House). The election outcome signifies a new chapter in the organization’s journey, marked by unity, democracy, and a commitment to community development.
