Pee Cee & Sons has taken a significant step towards transforming Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector through a modernised farming initiative focused on large-scale onion and maize production, creating employment opportunities and introducing advanced agricultural technology.
The company’s mechanised farming project is aimed at improving agricultural productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, and strengthening local food production through the use of modern equipment and innovative farming practices.

Beyond its agricultural operations, Pee Cee & Sons said its wider business network currently supports more than 2,000 jobs, while its onion and maize farming activities directly employ up to 542 people, providing livelihoods and contributing to economic growth in farming communities.
As part of its commitment to agricultural innovation, the company has invested in modern farming machinery capable of automatically harvesting onions and maize from the fields. The technology also supports post-harvest activities, including cleaning, sorting, and packaging the produce into bags according to market requirements.

The investment represents a major shift from traditional farming methods to a more efficient, technology driven agricultural model designed to increase production capacity, improve product quality, and enhance the competitiveness of locally produced food commodities.
According to Pee Cee & Sons, the initiative is the result of strategic planning, significant investment, and a commitment to redefining the future of agriculture in Sierra Leone.
“We have revolutionised this business. We identified what was needed, invested in the right technology, and took the bold step to make it happen,” the company stated.
The project is being regarded as one of the most ambitious private sector-led agricultural ventures in the country, representing a major milestone in mechanised onion and maize production at a commercial scale.
Through this initiative, Pee Cee & Sons is demonstrating the important role private sector investment can play in advancing food security, creating jobs, and driving agricultural transformation in Sierra Leone.
The company’s efforts align with broader national aspirations to increase agricultural output, promote modern farming techniques, and reduce dependence on imported food commodities through increased local production.
