On Saturday March 23,2024, the Ministry of Energy in collaboration with the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), have embarked on an overhaul of the transmission and distribution lines in Freetown, as part of the Energy Sector Utility Reform Project Additional Financing under the World Bank.
The objective of the activity is to break the current line capacity limitations and to increase the 33Kv distribution line capacity, which will capacitate EDSA to transport more power to customers in the East and West parts of Freetown.
The one-month exercise will see KESEC, which has completed the procurement of 33Kv Conductors, replace existing conductors on network infrastructures spanning between Kingtom 161 and Wellington and Blackhall Road respectively.
With the energy sector and the Feed Salone agenda being inextricably linked, reforms continue in the sector.
