According to reliable police sources informed this medium that , one private soldier, Abdulai Jalloh a graduate in Accounting and Finance(BSc) , who was enrolled for his second degree to read law at FBC, and attached to the Benguema military training base, had gone absent without leave (AWOL) since 2020.

He has been declared wanted in connection with the attempted coup of 26th November 2023.

The police is asking the public to provide information of the whereabouts of all the wanted persons in their list, with a promise of financial benefits, especially if the information results in the arrest of the individuals.

However, this medium engaged close associates of Abdulai Jalloh, who spoke to us on basis of anonymity. They disclosed that Abdulai Jalloh has been a soldier who had misgivings about political interference in the military, especially in the area of human rights violations, where military personnels are requested to intervene in incidents of riot, where they have had to shoot to kill unarmed civilians on the notion that they are opposed to the policies of the government.

They furthered that Abdulai Jalloh has been very voceferous over such violations, and this has been his undoing.

Our source furthered that some known ruling party military officers were not happy with his stance, and with collusion of top officials in government, were planning to eliminate him, on grounds that he was not part of them and a threat to their activities.

Our source disclosed that Abdulai Jalloh went AWOL on intelligence that he was going to be eliminated in a night time plot, and make the incident appear like an armed robbery.

Since getting that information, Abdulai simply disappeared, leaving behind his wife , who was also a military personnel and his child.

Our source furthered that when news of the disappearance of Abdulai came to the fore, Military Police interrogated his wife, Yeawa  Grace Kposowa who was also a military personnel, about her husband  whereabouts.

However, when they failing to get any useful information from her, they arrested her in December 2020 and kept her in detention till February 2021, and managed to escape from custody, when a drunken guard tried to rape her in detention.

She was able to overpower the drunken guard and made good her escape. She too, we were told, has gone into hiding and has not been seen since.

On their take about the allegation of Abdulai’s involvement in the November 26, attempted coup, they expressed doubt about the veracity of the police claim. They maintained that when he went AWOL, Abdulai Jalloh was declared wanted. They furthered that intelligence received is that some of the names listed by the police of wanted people is from some old list of wanted people, who had been sought after for different reasons and not the said coup, and noted that several names on the list have been cleared long since, but the police have not updated the list.

They maintained that some of the wanted persons were not connected to the coup attempt, also that several people, believed to be members or known sympathizers of the main opposition party (APC), have been incorporated into the list, with some of them being arrested and are standing trial or awaiting charges in respect of the said attempted coup.

While people like Abdulai Jalloh and others are at large, the main opposition party (APC), has raised concerns over the indiscriminate arrest and attacks on its members.

As we go to press, the whereabouts of Abdulai Jalloh, wife and child are still unknown.
