African Link & Sierra Data Network Exposed
A process that started in 2014 but lacked the political will is about to see the light of day and help government in revenue generation, report states, is being manipulated allegedly to favor a company whose initial contract was recently terminated.
It is believed that the whole process is being shrouded in dishonesty, as the interviews to award the contract took place with some people heavily favoring a company linked to Africa Link.
One of the companies that bided and amongst the three shortlisted, is a company called Sierra Data Network, which is believed to have been a resurrected company that has serious issue with the government when the owners of Sierra Data were given scanning contract under the name Africa Link Inspection Company Ltd.
Their contract was cancelled by a Presidential Order because of tax fraud and other financial issues, to the point that the matter is now in court by the same government that wants to give them contract in the guise of Sierra Data Limited
The company has no information on the internet. Two other companies- one owned by a Sierra Leonean and an Irish company are also shortlisted.
When journalists contacted the Information Minister, Chernoh Bah, on this, he said that they are in the process of reviewing several proposals for a national window platform to integrate customs and ports system, noting that a decision has not been reached on the specific company, as several companies are in contention.
Details on this in subsequent publications.
