Sierra Leone has demonstrated its readiness to host one of the most significant regional gatherings, as Heads of State and Government from across West Africa arrive for the ECOWAS Summit.
The National Security Coordinator (NSCORD), the Inspector General of Police (IG), and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) have put comprehensive security measures in place to ensure a peaceful, safe, and successful summit. Under the leadership of National Security Coordinator, Abdulai Caulker, security agencies have worked tirelessly to coordinate operations across the country, providing protection for all delegates, dignitaries, and citizens.
President Julius Maada Bio, the Vice President, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, the Deputy Attorney General, the Chief Justice, the Solicitor General, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the Secretary to the President, the Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and other senior government officials are all on the ground to receive Heads of State, international delegates, diplomatic missions, development partners, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and embassy representatives attending the summit.
Delegates have assembled at the conference venue, which offers modern facilities with the capacity to host this historic gathering. The summit is expected to strengthen regional cooperation and address key issues affecting West Africa.
The NSCORD, IG, and CDS reaffirmed that robust security arrangements remain in place to protect lives and property throughout the duration of the summit. They assured both citizens and international visitors that Sierra Leone remains peaceful, secure, and fully prepared to host this important event.
Many visitors and members of the international community have commended the professionalism of Sierra Leone’s security institutions. Abdulai Caulker has received recognition from various stakeholders for his leadership in coordinating national security efforts in support of the Government of Sierra Leone.
President Julius Maada Bio expressed appreciation to the country’s security personnel for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining peace and stability. He praised the excellent collaboration among the security institutions and commended the NSCORD, the Sierra Leone Police, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, and all other security agencies for their outstanding service.
The successful hosting of the ECOWAS Summit stands as another milestone for Sierra Leone, reflecting the nation’s commitment to regional peace, security, cooperation, and development.
