MMTU Presents Appreciation Card To Health Minister

A delegation headed by the Vice Chancellor and Principal of the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU), Professor Philip John Kanu, on Friday 7th March 2025, presented a thank you card of appreciation to the Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Austin Demby, for the recent (February 2025) free medical outreach to the university’s Goderich Campus that benefited staff and students, as well as the Goderich community.

Professor Kanu revealed that the Thank You card of appreciation was designed and produced by the University, underscoring that the outreach brought good health to the beneficiaries, especially staff and students, for which the university administration is grateful.

Professor Kanu went on to inform the Minister to convey the MMTU’s thanks and appreciation to his staff for the gesture, and informed that the university operates a clinic at the Goderich campus that is supported by the Ministry, with the Office of the First Lady providing hospital beds.

According to Professor Kanu, the Ministry’s environment is clean and tidy, with the toilets being no exception.

Responding, Dr. Demby revealed that the medical outreach was because of the strong collaborative efforts of the Ministry and its partners abroad, affirming that students are the future of Sierra Leone, and that the outreach focused on the students and the community, underlining that the thank you visit would motivate the Ministry to do more.

He continued that they are rebranding the Ministry, that LED lights that consume less energy have been installed in the offices that have been painted white and blue, asserting that they don’t have all what it takes to do their work, but that they are doing their best with the little they have, affirming that they are at the receiving end, while the university is on the producing end.

Presentation of the Thank You card to the Minister by the Vice Chancellor and Principal formed the highpoint of the visit.
