Lakka Hall clinches MMTU Sports Meeting 2026

Lakka Hall (Red) with 302 points on 2nd May 2026 won the Inter-Hall Track and Field Athletics Sports Meeting of the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) held at the MMTU Playing Field, Goderich Campus on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd May 2026 respectively. Juba and Lumley Halls tied in second position with 215 points each, while Adonkia Hall emerged in fourth position with 176 points.

The event was held under the Distinguished Grand Chief Patronage of Dr. Josephus Braimah.

Earlier in his opening address, the Director of Academic Affairs, MMTU, Dr. Mohamed Alie Jalloh, urged the students to be disciplined and display their best performances, reminding them that competitions are to be friendly contests, and underscored that with intensive training, they would demonstrate great determination, sharpness and focus on tactical discipline and quality performance.

He also encouraged them to have team spirit: qualities every athlete should have as well as nurture and display their talents without cheating.

Highlights of the well-attended two-day events included the 5,000 metres men race, tug of war men and women, 4×100 metres men and women, all Hall Relay, Best Female Athlete- Women, overall championship, 1,500 metres women and medley relay.

The Technical Directors were Joseph Nyande, Augustine Kamara and Mark I.S. Koroma, while the Hall Representatives were Yayah Lamin and Fatmata Wusha Fornah-Lakka, Dr. Emmanuel Conteh and Rodney Coker – Adonkia; Ken Sawyerr and Marco S. Conteh – Lumley; Dr. Ibrahim Sankoh and Sylvia Kamara –Juba.

Climax of the event was the presentation of trophies, certificates and prizes to winners.
