A satire tribute to journalists
FREE ERNEST & KILL MINAH?
It was a bright Sunday morning when Hon. Frank Kposowa together with Franklyn Bunting-Davies, Ibrahim Karim-Sei, Gbondima Gbondo observed, in the company of Olu Gordon, “Sierra Leone has set a world record for the best Attorney General and Minister of Justice. (Free Peter and kill Paul for the same offenses) Misprision of Treason—- free Ernest and Kill Minah.?”

Phillip Neville suddenly received a text message from Hon. VP Francis Minah and forwarded it to Ibrahim Karim-Sei.
“Guys, have you heard the news from upabove?” Daisy Bona asked.
Gbondima Gbondo responded, “what a fuck? Oh hell, no. What’s going on with our great party, the SLPP? What’s going on with Maada?” His Information Minister, Chernor Bah, broke the news upabove recently. Things are not the way they used to be.
Can you imagine? Gbondima Gbondo confirmed. Leather Boot has expressed disappointment over the speech made by Ernest Bai Koroma after his clemency. According to Leather Boot, he accused Ernest Bai Koroma of not mentioning their names or sympathizing with their families for dying, and the many other sacrifices they made for him while he was President? “
Gbondima Gbondo continued, “Francis Minah and former President Siaka Stevens appeared in court in downbleow. A sitting Vice President, Francis Minah, was accused of plotting to overthrow President Siaka Stevens and was charged for misprision of treason. He was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. Until his death and even if you wake him up right now, Francis Minah will deny all the allegations made against him. The same charges made against Minah were the same made against former President Ernest Bai Koroma upabove. Therefore, why should they free Ernest and kill Minah?”
“Breaking news ooh my colleague journalists’ downbelow, breaking news,” Sylvanus Kargbo and Isata Jabbie said in unison as they yelled and waived their hands to their colleagues.
Suddenly, Olu Gordon exclaimed and asked, “Isata Jabbie, what’s going on downtown downbelow and what’s breaking about the news?”
Both Isata Jabbie and Sylvanus Kargbo continued yelling.
Finally, Ibrahim Karim-Sei shouted, “Sylvanus Pompay Kargbo and Isata Jabbie, can you please come over and explain to us the downtown downbelow breaking news?”
Sylvanus Kargbo and Isata Jabbie stopped and responded in agreement, “can you guys please browse your phones now and see what’s happening in Supreme Court Number 1 on Downbelow Avenue? Supreme Court Judge LEK Daramy has sentenced Abdulai O. Conteh and former President Siaka Steven for misprision of treason?”
“You know guys,” Daisy Bona explained, “the clemency granted to former President Koroma is good for the country, and this cannot be overemphasized. In fact, the move has been applauded not only in Sierra Leone, but in the entire West Africa sub region and worldwide. The country is in dire need of reconciliation and everlasting peace. The decision made by Maada Bio, his SLPP government and ECOWAS is a big lesson for me personally. I can say for free that forgiveness is good, but I must hasten to confess that if it was former President Koroma, he would not have pardoned Maada Bio, as he would have sentenced him to death. Please be reminded that our beloved country has gone through a lot of disasters like the eleven years brutal and senseless civil war, Ebola and corona disease outbreaks respectively and the mudslide, all of these killed thousands of innocent and poor people. Now the APC and SLPP, must work together as a firmly united entity to develop the country. We are a very small country with rich natural resources, fertile soil and good weather, all of which can be utilized for the development of the country. It is sad that over 90% of the population is poor. From the analysis in the social media, Maada Bio has made a lot of advancements in the country like the construction of bridges in most parts of the country, thus connecting communities and the International Conference Center in Lungi upabove named after him, where the ECOWAS Conference was held few days ago.”
Gbondima Gbondo suddenly interjected, “thank you mummy Daisy for the good talk.”
Osman Ben Kargbo nodded his head before he responded, “Hon. Frank Kposowa, your party’s days are numbered yaa, Ibrahim Bangura or Jagaban next President, period.”
