Dear President Bio,
We are writing on behalf of the affected landowners who have suffered injustice at the hands of Lands Minister Dr. Turad Senesie. Some of us have been diligently supporting our country in various ways from the Diaspora, contributing substantial amounts of money that have had a positive impact on the country’s economy. Through hard work and savings abroad, many of us have managed to acquire lands through legal processes, ensuring that all relevant documents are in place before venturing into land purchase and acquisition. Unfortunately, a significant number of Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora have faced frustration due to the treatment we have received in our homeland. It has become clear that Minister Turad Senesie is using a cynical approach to dispossess individuals of their private lands under the guise of reclaiming state lands. It may come as a surprise to you that Minister Senesie has been selectively targeting people, bullying them, dispossessing them of their lands, and then selling those lands to others. For example, the widely reported Angola town demolition exercise, Tokeh, No.2 River, and other areas within the Western Rural District of Freetown highlight this issue. Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora are seeking justice.
We urge you to thoroughly investigate these allegations against Minister Turad Senesie and take appropriate action to rectify the injustices faced by landowners. Your intervention in this matter is crucial to ensuring that the rights of individuals to own and protect their lands are upheld. It is essential for the government to provide a fair and transparent process for land acquisition and ownership to prevent further exploitation and abuse by those in positions of power.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
[Ibrahim Sahid Tommy
