During a recent Facebook livestream, Social Media Giant, `Humphrey Thomas called for the immediate release of Zainab Sheriff, warning that citizens would mobilize if action is not taken. His remarks have sparked conversation about freedom of speech, governance, and the role of the opposition in Sierra Leone.

Thomas expressed concern that the country appears to be “getting out of hand” in the way citizens are being treated. He argued that many people feel they no longer have a voice and attributed this, in part, to what he described as a weak opposition. According to him, the All People’s Congress (APC) has not been vocal enough on pressing national issues.

He maintained that every citizen has the right to express their opinion freely. Referring to the arrest of Zainab Sheriff, Thomas stated that individuals should not face detention for sharing their views, even when those views are critical of the government or the President. He emphasized that freedom of speech is a fundamental right that should be protected.

Thomas also criticized what he described as growing injustice in Sierra Leone, citing concerns about economic hardship, low salaries, and broader governance issues. He questioned whether the police should be carrying out arrests related to citizens expressing their opinions and called for greater accountability.

Although he noted that he does not personally know Zainab Sheriff, Savage said he believes strongly in standing against what he sees as injustice. He encouraged Sheriff to remain strong and reiterated that some citizens are prepared to stand up firmly for their country.

He concluded by urging authorities to release Sheriff and allow citizens to express their views without fear of arrest, warning that continued dissatisfaction could lead to public mobilization.
