A property dispute currently before the Court of Appeal of Sierra Leone has prompted a public caution from legal representatives warning individuals and institutions against engaging in any transaction involving the disputed property.
The notice, issued by Davies & Dainkeh Law Firm, Barristers and Solicitors, on behalf of the Applicant/Appellant, Wordsworth Filo-Jones, relates to Civil Appeal Case No. CIV.:APP/62/2026 before the Court of Appeal of Sierra Leone.
The case is between Wordsworth Filo-Jones as Applicant/Appellant and Alusine Dumbaya, also known as Hotobah-During, together with seven others as Respondents.
According to the notice, the property at the centre of the dispute is covered by a Deed of Assignment dated 30 January 1985 and registered as No. 87 in Volume 74 at Page 128 in the records of the Administrator and Registrar-General.
The law firm stated that the property is currently the subject of pending litigation and an appeal before the Court of Appeal of Sierra Leone.
The notice further disclosed that the Applicant/Appellant has filed a Motion for Stay of Execution against an order issued by Honourable Justice Adrian Fisher J. dated 23 July 2026, pending the hearing and determination of the appeal.
Members of the public have been cautioned that any person dealing with, purchasing, transferring, alienating, disposing of, or otherwise conducting any transaction involving the said property does so at their own risk.
The legal notice stressed that all dealings concerning the property remain subject to the jurisdiction and final orders of both the Court of Appeal and the High Court of Sierra Leone.
It also advised anyone approaching the Office of the Administrator and Registrar-General or the Director of Surveys and Lands for registration, surveying, or any other transaction relating to the property to take note that the matter remains sub-judice and has not been finally concluded.
