On Thursday 23 November 2023, Chief Minister, David Sengeh, in the company of the Director General of NASSIT, Fuaad Daboh, Minister of Finance, Minister of Tourism and Minister of Labour, visited On-going work on the Hilton Cape Sierra Hotel, Aberdeen, Freetown.
Engineer Trudy Morgan, Program Director of IDEA Sierra Leone, explained the capacity and facilities in the building, disclosing that the hotel has over 200 rooms and seven elevators. She furthered that the project started in 2011, but construction was stopped early in 2022 because of the serious challenges posed by the Covid 19 pandemic.
Miss Morgan said that the hotel has a pool and a 24-hour food canteen available, and a waiting room, meeting rooms, excecutive rooms, Presidential rooms, cooling room with AC, and also has an electricity power plant that will supply the hotel, adding that the project Is 84% completed.
Mr Fuaad Daboh, NASSIT Director General, in his contribution, said that this was a very big boost for Sierra Leoneans and when this project is completed, it will benefit the nation, adding that the project was leased to IDEA.
Chief Minister, David Monina Sengeh, told the gathering that he was sent by President Bio to inspect the on-going work of the project, and expressed satisfaction that the project is 84% completed.
Minister Sengeh thanked them for their effort and looked forward to discussing further in a round table meeting.
Minister of Tourism, Nabela F Tunis, thanked everyone for coming to have first-hand information about the project, adding that she too is looking forward to the completion of the Hotel for use by Tourists.
