BIBLE SOCIETY OF SIERRA LEONE DONATES SCHOLARLY EDITION SCRIPTURES TO THEOLOGICAL COLLEGES WITHIN THE COUNTRY

The Bible Society of Sierra Leone (BSSL) is a non- denominational Christian organization which assist in the faithful translation of the Bible into various Sierra Leonean Languages.  It is a member of the United Bible Societies (UBS) operating in over 200 countries. UBS is a worldwide fellowship of National Bible Societies who have come together for consultation, mutual support and action in their common task of achieving the widest possible, effective and meaningful distribution of the Holy Scriptures and to help everyone interact with the Word of God.

The Bible Society have been working with Churches, Colleges, Universities and like minded organizations. In its bid to cement it relationship with these colleges a donation of the following Bible text was made to the different Theological Colleges in Freetwn, Bo, Makeni and Kono.

At The Evangelical College of Theology, the Principal Re. Dr. Warren Fornah, warmly welcomed the team from the Bible Society and encouraged them to continue to be working for God’s Kingdom in a unique way. He led the team to their chapel were students were waiting for the chapel session. The General Secretary of the Bible society Mr. Edwin Fraser delivered the message to the students.His theme was based on Proverbs 29:18, his topic was: “Truths That Will Carry You in Ministry.” He encouraged the students to be steadfast with their studies and to remain truthful even with their exams so that they’ll come out with integrity.

The Different books namely – NT Graece NA28 Greek-English Dictionary, A New Approach to Textual Criticism Hard Cover, Synopsis of the 4 Gospels, Textual Commentary on the Greek NT, Bibel English Bibel Atlas were presented by the General Secretary Mr. Edwin Fraser to Rev. Dr. Warren Fornan the Principal of the The Evangelical College of Theology (TECT).

Rev. Sawo Koroma the Registrar of the college in his vote of thanks said, The donation came at the appropriate time as the library needed some current and cogent text to help the students with their studies. He thanked the Bible Society and promised they will take very good care of the books as they are very expensive.

Similarly, the Bible Society visited the College of Theology, Management and Church Training Centre at Wesly Street in Freetown as we continue distributing the Scholarly Edition Text. We received a warm welcome from the principal of the institution Rev. Dr. Ken Luseni, which made the visit even more meaningful. The General Secretary, Mr. Edwin Fraser, gave a brief statement explaining the purpose of the donation and why the text was important. In his response, the principal said Theology is the backbone of the existence of the college and he explained that many pastors and bishops came through the corridor of the institution. The same Scriptural books were presented as well to the college. In her remarks the registra of the college Rev. Selina Pratt said the books are very important for the furtherance of theological education in the country. She said these are books you will never find in the shelves of ant bookshop in the country. She thanked the Bible Society for such a wonderful donation. She said the cost of those donations are very high and Bible Society has helped with the growth of theology in the country. Such a wonderful gift that will be used judiciously she emphasized.

Similar donations were made in the different theological colleges in Makeni, Bo and Kono.

More donations will be made to the remaining colleges offering theology as a major.
