WABA Elects Dr. Walton E Gilpin As 2nd Vice President 

As we are all aware, the Republic of Senegal 🇸🇳 has recently decided to withdraw its membership from the West African Bankers Association. Prior to this decision, Senegal held the position of Second Vice President of WABA. With their withdrawal, it is clear that Senegal can no longer serve as a member of the Executive Committee, in the capacity of Second Vice President.

Given this development, it is incumbent upon the membership to address the vacancy that has arisen within the leadership structure. The role of the Second Vice President is crucial for the smooth operation of WABA.

Based on the above, Dr. Walton E. Gilpin MD/CEO of RCBANK and who’s also the President of Sierra Leone Association of Commercial Banks(SLACB), was unanimously elected by members as the 2nd Vice President of the West African Bankers’ Association.

He was nominated by the 1st Vice President of WABA and seconded by the Former Secretary General of WABA/ Alieu Ceesay, also by other executive members, including the Registrar/Chief Executive, Mr. Akin Morakinyo of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria ( CIBN).
