Lawyer Melron Nicol-Wilson Applies For No-Case Submission

The criminal matter between the Inspector General of Police and Admire Bio Jalloh and Dauda Jalloh resumed on Thursday, 6th August 2026, before Magistrate Brima Jah at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown.

The prosecution called its final witness, Detective Inspector A.B. Hassan of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who testified under the guidance of State Prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay, Esq.

During his testimony, Detective Inspector Hassan tendered in evidence the caution and charge statements of the accused persons, statements obtained from the two Italian nationals, and statements made by other prosecution witnesses. The court admitted the documentary exhibits into evidence, after which the prosecution formally closed its case.

Lead defence counsel, Melron Nicol-Wilson, Esq., subsequently applied to make a No-Case Submission pursuant to Section 113(8) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 2024. He argued that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against his clients, contending that the statements, evidence, and exhibits presented before the court did not support the allegations against them.

Defence counsel further submitted that the prosecution had not produced evidence to show that the accused persons sold fake gold or participated in any robbery, as alleged.

After hearing the application, Magistrate Brima Jah directed the defence to file and argue its No-Case Submission on Monday, 10th August 2026. The prosecution was ordered to file its response on Thursday, 13th August 2026.

The court further indicated that upon receipt of both submissions, the matter would be reserved for ruling.

The case was adjourned to Monday, 10th August 2026, for the hearing of the defence’s No-Case Submission.
