“APC will follow the Court verdict”

–         Hon IB Kargo maintains

Member of Parliament for Constituency 034, Bombali District, Northern Sierra Leone, who also doubles as the Deputy Leader of the main opposition party in Parliament, the All People’s Congress (APC), on Thursday 18th August 2021, at his Wellington Street Office, said the party will go by the court verdict in organizing the Port Loko convention that will see the adaptation of the APC new constitution.

According to the Deputy Leader, he will be making an important statement shortly after the convention, presumably by next week, but added that he is in consultation with his own family before making the proposed statement.

He stated that they will form a reformation committee, in order to ensure that there is a level playing field for all those intending to contest for various positions in the party, including Flag bearer, and to ensure that the ruling of the court is followed.

Hon I. B. Kargbo stated that the APC party in the future needs an Elders Council to address issues and concerns that always affect the party and that could be a remedy to avoid much of the Court cases within the party.

Hon Kargbo maintained that indiscipline is another issue that is also affecting the party, adding that all should be addressed before the final Convention, as too much of infighting is also undermining the party to win the 2023 elections.

Speaking on the party’s line in respect of the dual citizen bill before the House, the Honourable MP said, Parliament will soon address the issue of dual citizenship in parliament, adding that whilst the opposition support the motion to narrow the gap for the dual citizenship to be eligible to vote and be voted for as Members of Parliament, but with respect to the Presidency, Speaker of Parliament and other relevant positions, he stressed that it is the view of the party that those positions, if allowed to be occupied by dual citizens, will undermine the sovereignty of the state.

I B Kargbo commended the Chinese and the United UK Government for the support in the fight against the Covid-19, especially with additional support in the form of the vaccine. He urged Sierra Leoneans to take the Vaccine, and said it is safe and certified by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Honourable Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo commonly known as I.B. Kargbo is one of Sierra Leone finest journalist and politician, Kargbo also served in the Educational sector and rose to the position of Principal at the Saint Andrews Secondary School, Bo.
