In a major boost ahead of Saturday’s All People’s Congress (APC) lower-level elections in Magburaka, Dr. Samuel Bangura has officially stepped aside from the Tonkolili District Chairmanship race and endorsed Dr. Ibrahim Prince Tholley.
The development sets the stage for what many are now calling the Magburaka Derby between Dr. Ibrahim Prince Tholley and Mohamed Osman Turay, popularly known as M.O.T.
In an official statement from Team Sam, Dr. Bangura said the vision for Tonkolili is becoming clearer and more realistic, and that the district now needs more energetic young people to serve in positions of trust.
“The rejected cornerstone has become the centre piece,” the statement noted.
Dr. Ibrahim Prince Tholley, widely known as Prince Tholley, is a household name in Tonkolili politics. He started as a grassroots politician and youth activist and served as Chairman of the Kholifa Rowalla Youth Council. He is described as approachable, humble, and a careful leader with integrity and honesty, with a passion for unity and respect for all.
According to Team Sam, the decision to hand over to Dr. Tholley is not an imposition, but a fair contest between those who applied for the position, stemming from his dedicated leadership history and determination to bring unity among the APC grassroots in Tonkolili.
“We are calling on all TEAM SAM MEMBERS and Delegates to embrace the new leadership vision for Tonkolili. Whosoever believes in Dr. Sam must stand up to defend his leadership legacy and unanimously vote Dr. Prince Tholley,” the statement added.
The endorsement has already attracted hundreds of APC supporters and grassroots members across Tonkolili who have openly endorsed the candidacy of Dr. Tholley ahead of the elections.
