Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally has described the proposed United States investment in Sierra Leone as the country’s greatest opportunity for national development since gaining independence, urging both the government and citizens to unite in creating an environment that attracts and sustains foreign investment.

Speaking under his Agenda MT Vision 2028, Tarawally said the investment proposal has the potential to transform Sierra Leone’s economy, create jobs, boost industrial growth and improve the livelihoods of citizens if the country takes the necessary reforms to inspire investor confidence.

“The U.S. investment proposal is a historic turning point for Sierra Leone and our greatest opportunity for national development since independence,” Tarawally said. “No country has achieved modern development without the backing of American investment.”

He stressed that while foreign investment can serve as a catalyst for economic transformation, Sierra Leone must first address the challenges that continue to discourage investors. He called for urgent action to combat corruption, eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy and red tape, strengthen public institutions and improve the country’s competitiveness.

“To fully capture this moment, our government and citizens must urgently work together to remove corruption, slash red tape and build a truly competitive economic environment,” he stated.

According to Tarawally, economic growth cannot be driven by government alone. He said a collaborative national effort involving the public sector, private businesses and citizens is essential to creating a transparent, efficient and investor-friendly climate capable of attracting long-term capital.

He further noted that the benefits of foreign investment should extend beyond infrastructure and capital inflows to include employment opportunities for young people, skills development, technology transfer and stronger support for local businesses.

Under his Agenda MT – Vision 2028, Tarawally reaffirmed his commitment to promoting policies that encourage investment, strengthen institutions and accelerate sustainable economic growth. He urged Sierra Leoneans to view the proposed U.S. investment not simply as a business opportunity, but as a defining moment that could reshape the country’s development trajectory for generations to come.

He concluded by calling on all stakeholders to seize the opportunity with patriotism and determination, stressing that the decisions made today will determine Sierra Leone’s economic future.
