Dr. Ibrahim Bangura Unveils Vision for The APC

Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has outlined his vision for the All People’s Congress (APC), calling for a united, inclusive, and disciplined political party capable of responding to the aspirations of Sierra Leoneans and positioning itself for future electoral success.

In his vision statement titled “Vision for the APC,” Dr. Bangura emphasised the need for the party to rebuild its internal structures, strengthen unity among members, and promote democratic values, grassroots participation, and inclusive leadership.

He stated that the APC must be driven by a shared sense of purpose focused on delivering meaningful change and sustainable development, while ensuring that the party reflects Sierra Leone’s diversity in terms of ethnicity, region, gender, and other demographic characteristics.

A Call for Unity and Reconciliation

Dr. Bangura identified unity as a fundamental requirement for the APC’s ability to regain public confidence and effectively compete for political power.

“Without unity, the party cannot lead our supporters into government,” he noted, stressing that unity must be built on respect for the party’s constitution, democratic principles, and appreciation of diverse opinions within a disciplined leadership framework.

He pledged to prioritise reconciliation among aggrieved factions within the party and work towards resolving internal differences by creating a level playing field where every member can participate and compete fairly.

Promoting Inclusive Leadership

According to Dr. Bangura, his vision is to establish an APC where every member feels valued and empowered regardless of ethnicity, region, district, gender, or background.

He said he would provide leadership that is “selfless and effective,” with a focus on modernising the party, strengthening grassroots mobilisation, expanding participation, and promoting discipline in political engagement.

He further highlighted the importance of improving the party’s national image and electability by ensuring that leadership structures represent the diverse composition of Sierra Leone’s population.

Moving Beyond Divisive Politics

Dr. Bangura argued that Sierra Leone’s development can only be achieved through collective effort and national unity rather than division and exclusion.

“I believe that development begins when we can galvanise the collective energies of every Sierra Leonean,” he stated, adding that progress cannot be achieved through marginalisation or discrimination based on language, political affiliation, or family background.

Empowering Women and Young People

The APC vision also places emphasis on creating greater opportunities for women and young people within the party.

Dr. Bangura pledged to build an APC where women, men, and young people are empowered to compete and serve, while ensuring that no individual is advantaged or disadvantaged because of their ethnicity or identity.

He said his ultimate goal is to help create a political organisation where every member can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the party’s future direction.

Dr. Bangura’s vision comes amid ongoing discussions about the future direction, leadership, and renewal of the APC as the party prepares to strengthen its structures and reconnect with supporters across Sierra Leone.
