During an interview on Radio Democracy, the Director of Public Education and External Outreach at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Mr. Patrick Sandi, confirmed that the Commission is currently investigating the Sierra Leone Immigration Department over allegations of the improper issuance of diplomatic and service passports to undeserving individuals.
Mr. Sandi disclosed that the investigation follows a raid conducted by the ACC on Monday, December 5, at the Sierra Leone Passport Production Unit. The operation was based on allegations that diplomatic and service passports were being issued to citizens who do not qualify for such privileges.
According to him, the ACC seized relevant documents from the Immigration Department to aid in its ongoing investigations.
Mr. Sandi further explained that no arrests have been made so far because the investigation is still at an early stage. He emphasized that the Commission is carefully reviewing the documents obtained before taking any further action.
He reassured the public of the ACC’s commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to the law in the issuance of official travel documents.
