Gento’s Banana Island Seaport Project Approved
Sierra Leone’s cabinet last Wednesday approved the Banana Island Seaport and Kent Logistics Hub project presently under construction by the Gento Group of Companies.
Minister of Transport and Aviation, Fanday Turay Esq, report states, presented the proposal before cabinet which was unanimously approved.
The concession agreement between the Government of Sierra Leone and Gento Group of Companies for the Banaa Island and Kent Projects will focus on the design, financing, construction and operationalization of a seaport and logistic hub(harbor terminal).
The approval of the twin projects ( Banana Island Seaport and Kent Logistic Hub) project by Sierra Leone’s Cabinet, under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, represents a significant step towards progress and development for the country. The decision to greenlight this two-billion-dollar investment initiative by Gento Group of Companies showcases a positive shift towards supporting local content policies, especially when spearheaded by individuals like Mohamed Gento Kamara who challenge the belief that Sierra Leoneans can’t lead in local investments.
