Wife of Hassan Sesay Declared Wanted

Wife of Hassan Sesay, Hawanatu Sesay, has been declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police following the recent foiled Coup, staged last month, that led to Destruction of lives and properties. Hassan Sesay, a lecturer at Milton Margai Technical University, has also been accused of being a staunch supporter of the main opposition, All People’s Congress Party, who, report states, hailed from the Northern District of Port Loko. Sesay’s Wife, Hawanatu Sesay, nee Conteh, is a blood relative of Captain John Conteh, who was also declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police on the November 26th failed Coup.
Reports are that while Captain John Conteh was on the run, the Sierra Leone Police was able to gather evidence linking direct communication between Captain John Conteh and his Cousin, Hawanatu Sesay, Wife of the APC lecturer at Milton Margai College Campus at Congo Cross in Freetown.

It could be recalled that Hawanatu’s husband, Hassan Sesay, has been accused by the Students Union of the ruling SLPP of a staunch supporter and sympathiser of the Opposition APC, an issue which led to house raids and police search warrants at his premises. During the search warrant, the Police discovered that Sesay had an APC membership card, and his wife, Hawanatu, was arrested, with the Police demanding the appearance of her husband, before she could be released. Mariatu was later released on bail, while the Police continue to monitor and surveille her movement. Police sources told Journalists, that the same Hawanatu has again been monitored and found to having secret communications with Captain John Conteh, who is among those declared wanted for the November 26th failed Coup. Police spokesman Brima Kamara disclosed to Newsmen that through their Cyber Unit they have evidence of direct calls between Hawanatu and Captain John Conteh, a lead they strongly believe could be of possible Trace to arrest Captain John Conteh, Kamara said.

Captain John Conteh and Hawanatu are cousins from the paternal side. In that light, the police is therefore putting pressure, that, since Captian John Conteh is still at large, then his closest cousin, who happens to be Hawanatu, should be arrested. That in itself has been a serious case for the Sesay Family. Hawanatu’s husband is also a possible target following a secret WhatsApp-Group-Discussion, linking him to be a member. The group in question is alleged to be planning and strategising for another possible protest, being championed by the People’s Power of Concerned Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora, an organisation claiming to be fighting for the restoration of democracy in Sierra Leone.
Efforts made to get in contact with the families of the two proved futile.
