The incumbent chairperson and one of the best Ambassadors Kambia has ever produced in the history of politics, Ambassador Alimamy Hassan Bangura, remains the all-rounder and unifier.
Ambassador Alimamy Hassan Bangura has touched many lives and has been the only political leader that has recorded the highest conversions from the leading Opposition (APC) to his political party (SLPP) with comfort and less financial involvement. The gentleman’s human spirit has helped him win many minds and souls for a political party many considered dead, prior to the 2018 general elections. Preceding the 2018 elections, the SLPP hardly won a market chairperson election in Kambia district, thus, making the district a stronghold for the leading opposition All People’s Congress party (APC), for about a decade.
Ambassador Alimamy, THE GAME CHANGER, navigated his way through thick and thin until he delivered his party to State House. He took several risks and was the only senior party member of the SLPP prior to the 2018 general elections, who had the guts to move up and down the streets of Kambia, unarmed and without a personal bodyguard, amidst the political tension that characterized that period. Bangura cuts across all religions, tribes and political parties in Kambia District, which made him one of the most tolerant political leaders in the history of Kambia.
HIS INDELIBLE MARKS
Through his hard work, loyalty to his master and commitment to his political party (SLPP), Ambassador Alimamy Hassan Bangura, 4 months after his appointment as the Sierra Leonean Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea, where he was set up by some of his men to almost death, was the first political party leader that contributed the first district state-of-the-art party office for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Kambia, a sacrifice no political party Leader has made for a district known to be a stronghold of another major political party. What a gigantic effort, to say the least!
Ambassador Alimamy personally did all he could to empower people whom he saw as angels. He sent some to universities and the rest is story, taught them how to put on suits, supported them to marry their wives, showed them the importance of owning property among others, but later, they became his Judas, who crucified him halfway. The great leader, being the resilient man that he is, and a hard nut to crack, he remained loyal to his master and the SLPP. His attempted crucifixion by some of his henchmen was nothing but a calculated ploy to defame him ahead of the lower-level elections, in which he is seeking a second mandate.
Ambassador Alimamy Hassan Bangura remains the choice of Kambia and the Go-Getter in the SLPP political landscape in Kambia District.
