On 11 April 2025, while attending the Saint Joseph School Sports Meet in Kenema, Sheik Alhaji Mohamed “Omodu” Kamara, widely known as Jagaban, told the audience that what Sierra Leone needs is leaders and not politicians.
Addressing thousands in the stronghold of the ruling SLPP, Jagaban, who is known to be APC, gave a reflective speech, where he urged party delegates to take critical decisions as they prepare to select the APC’s next flagbearer race. He emphasized that their choice will shape the nation’s future, stressing that “this country lacks leadership—we don’t need politicians, we need leaders.”
Jagaban defined true leadership as self-sacrifice, not self-service. “Leaders are people willing to sacrifice themselves, not the reverse,” he told the cheering crowd.
He cautioned supporters in Kenema against engaging in social media battles on his behalf. “My work will speak for me,” he declared confidently.
Additionally, he called for respect for the Presidency, warning that if citizens curse the Presidency, they will ultimately bear the consequences. “When the impact comes, it’s the people who will suffer,” he warned.
His speech resonated strongly, drawing applause and sparking deep reflection among party supporters.
