The esteemed media organization, Journalists Without Borders (JWB), has conferred a prestigious Certificate of Recognition upon Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police TM Lahai. This honor follows his recent appointment by President Julius Maada Bio as Board Chairman of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), recognizing his commitment to leadership and public service.
The award was presented during an official engagement between the newly appointed Board Chairman and the administrative leadership, Road Safety Corps and staff of the SLRSA. The meeting served as an opportunity for the newly appointed chairman to outline his vision for the Authority, emphasizing his commitment to implementing meaningful reforms. He assured stakeholders that his tenure would be characterized by strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing road safety and operational efficiency. Among the key issues he pledged to address, was the persistent problem of street garages, vowing to implement appropriate measures to regulate and manage these spaces effectively.
In his address, chairman Lahai urged SLRSA personnel to uphold ethical standards, emphasizing the need to eradicate corruption and embrace practices that would reinforce the institution’s integrity. He expressed his determination to steer the Authority towards a culture of accountability and efficiency, aligning his leadership with President Bio’s broader development agenda.
The SLRSA Board Chairman, however, expressed thanks and appreciations to HE the President for appointing him, furthering that the confidence reposed in him will not be misplaced.
The award was formally presented by JWB’s Editor-in-Chief and CEO, Alhassan Spear Kamara, who commended TM Lahai’s dedication to public service and his strategic vision for the nation’s road safety framework.
Upon receiving the honor, Chairman TM Lahai expressed deep gratitude to Journalists Without Borders for recognizing his efforts, and pledged to make a positive impact in his new capacity. He reaffirmed his commitment to driving progressive change within the SLRSA, ensuring that road safety regulations are enforced effectively for the benefit of all Sierra Leoneans. His leadership, he noted, would be rooted in transparency, innovation, and a firm dedication to improving road infrastructure and traffic management across the country.
