SLMA Holds 2-Day Seminar showcasing the significance of the Blue Economy

On 4th March, 2024, the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA) proudly announced the successful launch of its first Maritime Seminar on Mainstreaming the Maritime Domain and the Blue Economy. The esteemed event was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Aviation, Mr. Alex Bonapha, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s maritime development. Distinguished speakers graced the occasion, lending their expertise and insights to the discussions:

Mr. Paul Sobba Massaquoi: Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration, Honorable Kandeh Kolleh Yumkela: Chairman of the Special Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security, Representatives from key sectors, including the Police, the Military, Ministry of Fisheries, and Honorable Ambrose Maada Lebbie, Chairman of the Transport Committee in Parliament, graced the occasion.

Under the able Chairmanship of Mr. Sama Ansu Gamanga, Deputy Executive Director of the SLMA, the seminar provided a platform for comprehensive discussions on vital maritime issues. Attendees from diverse backgrounds, including students, seafarers, and boat owners, actively participated in enriching exchanges, reflecting the seminar’s inclusive approach towards shaping the future of Sierra Leone’s maritime landscape.

The event underscored SLMA’s commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders, driving sustainable development in the maritime sector.
