In the wake of the 2023 elections, the APC party by its Constitutionally Elected Presidential Candidate, Dr Samura kamara, stands firm in its resolve that the 2023 election is far from over. While some may consider these elections “sealed and settled,” for us, it remains an ongoing struggle for justice and transparency. This election left many questions unanswered, and as a party that champions democratic principles, we owe it to the people of Sierra Leone to seek clarity, accountability, and fairness in the electoral process.
The commitment of our esteemed leader, Dr. Samura Kamara, to initiate the National Unity Dialogue with the SLPP government, was not an acceptance of the alleged electoral outcome; rather, it was a strategic step to address the grievances and irregularities that marred the process. This dialogue serves as a platform for peaceful discourse, but also stands as a vehicle to reassert our rights and reclaim our mandate.
The Role of the Tripartite Committee’s Recommendations
A critical outcome of the National Unity Dialogue is the Tripartite Committee’s report, which underscores key recommendations aimed at addressing election-related issues, constitutional challenges, and public trust in governance. These recommendations are not mere proposals; they are guiding principles that outline necessary reforms and actions. The APC views this report as a roadmap, one that validates our concerns and supports our ongoing efforts to ensure electoral integrity.
With each recommendation, the report provides us with a pathway towards reclaiming the 2023 victory that we believe was rightfully ours. These guiding tools will help us hold accountable those who may seek to suppress the will of the people, and they reaffirm our commitment to electoral justice.
A United Front for Electoral Justice and Integrity in Sierra Leone
To advance this cause, unity within our party and among our supporters is paramount. The APC Strategic Grassroots Communication Unit calls on all members, from every constituency and district, to remain vigilant and engaged. Our journey is not just about a single election; it’s about restoring faith in our democratic systems and ensuring that every voice is heard, respected, and counted.
Our supporters must remember that while the 2023 elections may be in the past, the results are not set in stone. The APC will continue to advocate, both domestically and internationally, for the recognition of our concerns and for the transparent application of the Tripartite Committee’s recommendations.
Moving Forward with Determination
We, as comrades of the APC party, should remain steadfast in our commitment to democratic values and the belief that electoral justice is achievable in reclaiming our 2023 votes or winning.
A Call to Action
As Chief Editor of the APC Strategic Grassroots Communication Unit, I urge every member of the APC family, from our APC party leadership to grassroots supporters, to stay focused on our objective. The National Unity Dialogue and the Tripartite Report are tools for our cause; they equip us to challenge the current narrative and to reclaim what was taken from us.
The 2023 elections are not sealed and settled. Together, as a united front, we will keep moving forward in the fight for justice, knowing that our resilience and dedication to this mission will ultimately define the future of Sierra Leone.
