Prison Director General Hands Over Construction Sites to JAZE Enterprise for Officers’ Quarters in Kamakwie, Mafanta, Magburaka, and Makeni

On Saturday, 21st February 2026, the Director General of the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS), Mr. Joseph John Senessie, together with the Director of Procurement, Mr. Peterson Just Boima, and the Regional Commander, North East, James E. K. Tarawalie, officially handed over construction sites to JAZE Enterprise for the development of new residential quarters for correctional officers in Kamakwie, Mafanta, Magburaka, and Makeni.

This milestone initiative forms part of DG sustained commitment to improving officers’ welfare by providing decent, safe, and adequate accommodation for correctional officers deployed across key facilities nationwide.

The Director General’s tireless efforts in securing these contracts with the Government of Sierra Leone have been widely commended, with many describing the initiative as a game-changer for correctional officers who have long deserved improved living standards. The provision of quality housing will also ease the financial burden on officers’ families by enabling rent-free living

The project underscores a broader vision to strengthen the correctional service through improved living conditions. By prioritizing quality and sufficient accommodation across the country’s correctional facilities.

DG is laying a solid foundation and this enduring legacy is expected to have a lasting positive impact on officers, their families, and the nation at large.

During the visit, the Director General engaged key stakeholders from Kamakwie, Mafanta, Magburaka, and Makeni on the handing over of site plans to JAZE Enterprise for the commencement of construction works.

He emphasized the critical importance of stakeholder consultation and participation, stressing that no construction would begin without their full engagement and support.

He further called on stakeholders to play an active role in monitoring the contractor, noting that the project is funded by taxpayers’ money and that the delivery of quality work is non-negotiable.

Additionally, the Director General highlighted that the construction of officers’ quarters will generate employment opportunities for members of host communities, thereby contributing to local economic development and community empowerment.
